The road to success is not a straight one. It has peaks and valleys and lots of twists and turns. Sometimes we feel it is a straight uphill climb with no summit in sight. One thing is certain. You have to get up every day, put one foot in front of the other with confidence and determination.
Easier said than done?
Everyone talks about confidence but it can’t be bought and it can’t be contrived. There is no certain formula for success but there are a few things I have learned along my topsy turvy path.
I have overcome significant obstacles. It hasn’t been easy but there are a few key lessons I learned. We must possess authenticity, perseverance and belief in the outcome.
Authenticity. I know so many professionals who are afraid for the world to see them for who they are and I couldn’t disagree with this PASSION PROFILE more. When you self disclose you will find people respond with acceptance, gratitude and respect. Perhaps, most important you build trust. When I stopped pretending I was someone I am not, my business grew as did my personal happiness.
Perseverance. It might sound obvious but the simple fact of putting one foot in front of the other, showing up every day, assessing what is working and how you might need to pivot, is another secret to success. I believe any problem can be solved with persistence and patience. It honestly is that simple. Show up every day and put one step in front of the other.
Belief. Where so many people fall short is when they stop believing they can overcome whatever obstacles they see in their path. You have to believe in the outcome. You must dream of the life you want. Visualization is a proven technique. You set yourself up for success or failure starting with your thoughts. It’s muscle memory that needs to be exercised. Believe in the future you desire and the results will follow.
As a personal branding, image and style expert. I teach women to show up with poise and confidence. But it’s deeper than that. It’s knowing yourself, having the courage to show who you are to the world, believing in yourself and having the determination and dedication to be your best every day. You can’t succeed to your fullest without these soft skills.
